The second Zibo Urban Theatre Festival and the fifth China Wuyin Opera Art Festival were both jointly launched in the prefecture-level city of Zibo – located in East China's Shandong province – with their opening ceremony staged at the Zibo Grand Theatre at 7:30 pm on Feb 11.
The theatre festival will run to March. According to the schedule, a number of national, provincial and municipal plays will be put on and a variety of artistic performances and cultural activities will be staged.
For the opera festival, the National Peking Opera Company, the Shandong Provincial Peking Opera Theater and various professional local art troupes are performing both on-site and online. Some 50 or so activities will be held in eight sections.
Since the first China Wuyin Opera Art Festival was held in 2018 and the first Zibo Urban Theatre Festival was held in 2021, Zibo has staged a number of productions such as the modern Peking Opera Zhu Yanfu, the dance drama Banks of the Yellow River are my home, the Zibo traditional folk opera – Wuyin Opera's Wind from Donghaoyu and the opera Jiangjie.
The opening ceremony was also broadcast live via several platforms – including the Dazhong Daily's online platform – with over 700,000 people watching the live broadcast.
