The GDP of Zibo city in East China's Shandong province topped 440.26 billion yuan ($65.2 billion) in 2022, an increase of 4.7 percent compared with 2021, according to the local statistics authority on Jan 30.
The added value of Zibo's primary, secondary and tertiary industries hit 18.86 billion yuan, 219.37 billion yuan and 202.03 billion yuan, respectively – increases of 5 percent, 4.9 percent and 4.4 percent.
In 2022, the added value of Zibo's industries above a designated size increased 6.5 percent over the previous year – 2.9 percentage points and 1.4 percentage points higher than that of the county and the province.
Statistics showed that the manufacturing industry provided important support for the growth.
The added value of the manufacturing industry reached 173.38 billion yuan in 2022, accounting for 39.4 percent of GDP. The growth in added value of the four leading industries – new materials, intelligent manufacturing, new medicines and the electronics information industries – was 11.6 percent.
The added value of the city's services industry increased by 4.4 percent over the previous year – 0.7 and 0.9 percentage points higher than that of the first half of the year and the first three quarters, respectively – contributing 44.9 percent to overall economic growth.
Zibo's fixed-asset investment rose 18.1 percent in 2022, ranking it third in Shandong.
The city carried out 530 major projects throughout the year, with investment for them totaling 129 billion yuan. In 2022, capital from outside Shandong hit 62.06 billion yuan and 398 new projects over 100 million yuan were introduced.
Statistics also showed that the city's imports and exports reached 123.41 billion yuan, an increase of 3 percent over the previous year. The actual use of foreign capital of Zibo increased by 25.8 percent year-on-year to $1.03 billion. That's the first time it has exceeded $1 billion.
Zibo saw a consumer spending rebound in 2022 as its consumer price index or CPI rose 1.3 percent.
Its online retail sales grew rapidly, surging 66.8 percent in the year.
In 2022, the city's general public budget revenue reached 37.59 billion yuan, the best level in the past four years. Revenue in the general public budget exceeded 40 billion yuan for the first time, after deducting tax credits.

Data further indicated that the city has achieved remarkable results in the quality of life and standard of living of its residents.
The proportion of livelihood expenditure in the city's general public budget reached 81.59 percent. Some 42 kindergartens were rebuilt or expanded. The density of its street-installed emergency heart attack defibrillators or AED occupies first place in Shandong. The number of days with good air quality last year reached 236.
