Weifang will roll out about 290 cultural and tourism activities for the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, which runs from Feb 15 to 23 this year.
At a press conference on Feb 10, city officials detailed plans to energize the holiday market through immersive folk experiences, winter recreation, and a variety of museum and theater programs. The initiative is designed to highlight the distinctive flavor of a Weifang-style Chinese New Year celebration, stimulate consumption, and build momentum for economic growth early in the year.

Traditional festivities will anchor the celebrations. Historic areas, including Shihu Garden, Qingzhou Ancient City, and Yangjiabu cultural block, will host temple fairs, lantern displays, and markets with intangible cultural heritage items such as woodblock New Year prints, paper-cutting, and kites.
The Yangjiabu lantern fair will feature datiehua, or molten iron fireworks, along with drone performances and a light show themed on the Year of the Horse. Qingzhou Ancient City will revive time-honored rituals, from holiday bazaars to folk performances and dragon dance parades, creating a festive setting.
Winter tourism will provide another major draw. Ice and snow events will be launched at Qingyun Mountain, Fuyan Mountain, and Tianci Mountain, transforming seasonal resources into new growth drivers. Visitors will also be encouraged to combine outdoor sports with leisure and wellness, with itineraries pairing morning skiing with afternoon hot spring experiences expected to gain popularity.

Cultural institutions across the city are preparing special programs. The Weifang Museum will introduce exhibitions with auspicious porcelain motifs and a dialogue between the civilizations of Weifang and Anyang. Meanwhile, the Weifang Grand Theatre will stage renowned ballets, including Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
By integrating traditional folk culture with modern forms of entertainment, Weifang expects to enrich holiday life, boost tourism vitality, and offer residents and visitors an engaging Spring Festival experience.
