Qingdao WCNA crafts hydrogen-driven green town

Qingdao Hydrogen Energy Industry Park in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) signed a contract to build an integrated photovoltaic power generation and hydrogen production project on Dec 28.

With a planned total investment of 1 billion yuan ($137 million), the project will include the construction of a 40 megawatt (MW) integrated photovoltaic power generation and hydrogen production project in Boli town of Qingdao WCNA.

By deploying distributed photovoltaic power generation for hydrogen production, the project will include new applications of renewable energy, opening up new growth opportunities for the sustainable development of Qingdao Hydrogen Energy Industry Park.

Once completed, the project will provide the park with a green, sustainable, and economically low-cost source of electricity, optimizing the energy structure of the park and achieving diversification and cleanliness of hydrogen sources. This will be of significant importance in promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, green environmental protection, and the development of a hydrogen-powered green town.

As the city's only professional hydrogen industry park, the Qingdao Hydrogen Energy Industry Park is accelerating the promotion of investment attraction, financial services, and supporting construction, further improving the hydrogen industry chain and boosting the development of the hydrogen industry in Qingdao and Jiangsu province as a whole. 

As of now, the park has signed agreements on nine projects with a total investment of 5.61 billion yuan and has newly reserved 10 projects with a total investment of 9.4 billion yuan.
