Qingdao West Coast New Area debuts China's first homegrown PTA unit

Qingdao West Coast New Area has recently reached a milestone with the manufacturing and shipment of the first domestic pure terephthalic acid (PTA) production unit, which is capable of an annual output of 3.2 million metric tons.

PTA, a petroleum derivative, serves as a key raw material in the production of polyester fibers. These fibers are now transcending their traditional role as a cotton substitute to become a versatile material in innovative applications.

This large-scale shipment overseen by Qingdao LS Heavy Mechanical Equipment Group featured specialized specifications and unique materials. The company developed 11 key pieces of equipment for PTA technology enhancement and expansion projects, including essential components such as reactors, crystallizers, and storage tanks.
