Qingdao's film hub contributes to global box office hits

The latest global top 10 box office rankings for 2024 feature two films shot at the Qingdao Film and Television Base in Qingdao West Coast New Area: YOLO and Successor, which claimed the seventh and ninth spots with box office revenues of $498 million and $438 million, respectively.

Inside Out 2 topped the global charts with an impressive $1.62 billion, followed by Deadpool & Wolverine at $1.15 billion.

Moreover, the summer quarter of China's box office (June to August) has reached an impressive 10.6 billion yuan ($1.49 billion). Successor has notably set a record for a comedy movie, garnering 3.17 billion yuan and securing its title as the summer season's comedy box office champion.

Since its establishment in 2013, the Qingdao Film and Television Base has played a pivotal role in the region's film and television industry, leading a development layout that extends across Qingdao with key areas in Lingshan Bay to the east and Cangma Mountain to the west.
