Qingdao West Coast New Area has welcomed a new cultural gem, Paifang Street, which recently opened to the public with a series of Song Dynasty-style (960-1279) festivities.
The inauguration featured an array of interactive performances, including synchronized golden drum playing, dragon and phoenix dances, fireworks, poetry recitations, folk acrobatics, and ancient-style music, alongside modern electronic music parties.
Paifang Street, a nod to the past with its ancient architectural style, has been revitalized with a blend of modern commercial elements. It now hosts a plethora of dining and leisure options, from traditional handicrafts and snacks to hanfu experience centers, catering to a diverse consumer base.

Situated in the historic Zhuhai sub-district, once the liveliest commercial hub during the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Paifang Street runs for two kilometers and is imbued with a rich history. Despite seeing a decline in prominence over time, the street has been meticulously restored during the urban renewal process.
It has received a comprehensive facelift, lighting system upgrades, and enhancements to sanitation, public facilities, road greening, with idle public spaces being restored.
