Qianli Shrimp receives geographical indication trademark

chinadaily.com.cn| Updated: April 1, 2024

Qianli Shrimp, a prized species abundant in valuable minerals and nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, protein and astaxanthin, has recently been granted the geographical indication trademark by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

This recognition serves as a national "ID card" for the product, signifying its exceptional quality and unique origins.

Qianli Shrimp thrives in the shallow coastal waters of Lingshan Bay, located in the Qingdao West Coast New Area. It is typically found near the shore when specific wind patterns and tide conditions align, leading to a spectacular sight when their population peaks. During this time, the seawater turns red, and the shrimps leap out of the water, leaving a red mist in the air.
