Haiqing town in Qingdao West Coast New Area, southwest of Qingdao, is bordered by two rivers. Taking advantage of the geographical and climatic conditions of Haiqing town, Haiqing tea has become a significant component of the region's agriculture.

In the 1950s, Haiqing town introduced tea species from southern China, specifically Anhui tea species. Despite encountering various challenges, the town had successfully cultivated tea plants by the 1970s.

Haiqing tea is grown in the prime tea-producing belt and enjoys favorable geographical conditions and abundant nutritional value. This helps nurture its natural flavor and exceptional quality.

Currently, the town boasts a tea garden area of 35,000 mu (2,333.33 hectares), with an annual dried tea production of 1.3 million kilograms. The total output value of the tea industry is more than 360 million yuan ($49.19 million). The town boasts the largest tea germplasm resource garden in the northern region of the Yangtze River.
