The kick-off conference of the UN Ocean Decade Collaborative Center on the Ocean-Climate Nexus will be held from Sept 27 to 28 in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province.

The event will bring together representatives from UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, the Ocean Decade global coordination body, the Ocean Decade Science Program, and nearly 200 scholars and representatives from more than 30 countries and international organizations from across the world.

In addition to the launch ceremony, keynote speech and result publishing sessions, the conference will also feature six parallel forums.

The UN Ocean Decade Collaborative Center on the Ocean-Climate Nexus is a crucial part of the Ocean Decade Cooperation Center. It is one of the first five collaborative centers to be approved by the UN, and the only one in China.

Facing current climate change challenges, it is crucial to strengthen maritime exchanges and cooperation. The Ocean Decade aims to strengthen global cooperation and promote a seamless interface between scientific and technological innovation related to oceans and global ocean governance.

The conference will further deepen the Ocean Decade cooperation network and its global influence and provide an international exchange and cooperation platform for global experts participating in Ocean Decade actions and involved in ocean and climate-related fields.
