Qingdao WCNA home to key shooting spots

Seven popular spots, including the China Movie Metropolis, Cangma Mountain Film and Television City, Phoenix Grand Theater, Xingye Island Film, and Television Base, and Jimiya Port in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA), are listed among the critical film and television shooting locations in Qingdao, Shandong province, the city's bureau of culture and tourism announced recently.

China Movie Metropolis

Covering a total area of 1.7 million square meters, China Movie Metropolis is China's first large-scale film and television production base certified by London's Pinewood Studios for meeting international standards.

It has 40 international standard studios, 32 workshops, and supporting facilities such as an underwater production center, digital audio, and video center, a comprehensive office building, and outdoor film and television locations.

With an integrated film and television service platform, it can meet the different shooting needs of domestic and foreign crews. Since its operation in 2018, China Movie Metropolis has been highly recognized in the industry and dubbed the "cradle of Chinese sci-fi blockbusters".

Cangma Mountain Film and Television City

Covering an area of 100 hectares, Cangma Mountain Film and Television City have architectural complexes in the style of the Shang (c.16th century-11th century BC) and Zhou dynasties (c.11th century-756 BC), European and American urban views, as well as old Beijing, Shanghai, and Qingdao city images. It boasts supporting facilities such as hotels, catering, modern stage interiors, and prop warehouses. 

Phoenix Grand Theater

Covering an area of 63,000 sq m and a building area of 39,000 sq m, Phoenix Grand Theater has a height of 66 meters. It consists of an opera hall, a performing arts hall, an observation platform, a bungee jumping platform, and commercial supporting facilities. Due to its beautiful external appearance with complex curved lines resembling a phoenix landing on the Golden Beach, the theater was named "Phoenix Voice".

Xingye Island Film and Television Base

Surrounded by clear mountains and water on three sides, Xingye Island Film and Television Base covers an area of 28.67 hectares. The base began construction in 2006 and is a comprehensive cultural tourism destination integrating sightseeing, film and television shooting, camping, experiential education, and popular agricultural science.

Jimiya Port

Located in the Tangdao Bay as a national-level central fishing zone, Jimiya Port is an important node on the western golden coast of Qingdao. The port offers a unique and traditional experience of a simple and ancient way of life. It plays a positive role in promoting maritime and fisheries cultures.
