Two new berths were officially put into operation on June 9 at Dongjiakou port area of Qingdao Port, which is operated by Shandong Port Group.

The 5#-6# berths, which are comprised of one 50,000-metric-ton and one 100,000-ton general-purpose berths, are expected to increase the annual throughput capacity of Qingdao Port by 6.5 million tons.

They are located on the eastern coastline of the North Third Jetty and are arranged along the bank. The projects started construction in January 2021 and were completed one month ahead of schedule.

The berths and supporting facilities can be used for frozen fish, and bulk and general cargo operations, as well as ease the existing shortage of cargo storage sites, help Dongjiakou port area to further adapt to the rapid development of freight in the hinterland, and attract and expand domestic and foreign trade routes.
