Qingdao WCNA intensifies policies to boost employment, entrepreneurship

chinadaily.com.cn| Updated: May 9, 2022

Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) recently rolled out 10 supporting measures to expand employment and promote business startups during the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control period.

The local government will work to expand employment for key groups such as college graduates and broaden employment channels in the area. This year, it plans to create 4,650 urban and rural public service jobs, carry out free vocational skills training for over 12,000 people, and employ over 40,000 young and talented people.

More than 60 million yuan ($8.95 million) in government subsidies will be distributed to boost business startups and stronger support will be provided for the construction of incubators.

The government will give graduates informative guidance and policy support to ensure that they can find jobs or start businesses in Qingdao WCNA. It will host dedicated job fairs for them and improve the service capacity of official entrepreneurship and innovation platforms.

A series of activities will be held to meet the large demand for skilled workers in the chip and display industry in Qingdao WCNA. By the end of 2022, the number of skilled workers in the industry in the new area is expected to reach 20,000.

The government will also look into new services to help stabilize employment in the midst of the epidemic, such as forming partnerships to promote employee sharing across enterprises and boosting the use of e-labor contracts.

The government has also connected its talent demand catalog with Qingdao WCNA's official recruitment platform Professional Sea Surfing.

The measures have been in effect since April 29 and have a one-year validity period.
