The ice and snow industry in Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA) has gotten a boost from the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which kicked off on Feb 4 and ended on Feb 20.
WCNA's winter fitness sports have drawn about 120,000 individuals of all ages to participate in ice and snow sports, placing it top in Shandong province in terms of penetration and participation rates.
In recent months, the new area has integrated ice and snow sports into classroom instruction, with the goal of spreading the spirit of the Winter Olympics.

Zhujiang Road Primary School was awarded the title of Qingdao Ice and Snow Sports Demonstration School on Jan 7 after it was awarded the title of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Olympic Education Demonstration School.
The new area has hosted more than 10 ice and snow sports events such as the Asian Youth Figure Skating Challenge, the Qingdao Ice Hockey Invitational Tournament, and Qingdao's first Winter Fitness Games, significantly promoting the popularization of ice and snow sports.
