The coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province held a film and television promotion conference in Hong Kong on March 11 during the Hong Kong International Film and Television Expo.

Representatives from Qingdao introduced the city's film and television support policies, film and television base hardware advantages, related film and television resources, and the development of the industry.

Qingdao is the first World Film Capital awarded by UNESCO in China and is known domestically as a natural studio. It has formed a distinctive and complementary layout for the film and television industry. Key filming locations such as Oriental Movie Metropolis Industrial Park, Zhongshan Road Historical District, Dongtang Film and Television Industrial Park, and Jiaozhou Kuaiguzhuang Alley offer a wide variety of backdrops for scenes.

The Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) has become a top-notch industrialized film and television base, with its influence pervading Qingdao. It has become the center of Shandong province's film and television base, as well as an internationally renowned film and television production base. Several outstanding film and television works, including The Wandering Earth, Home Coming, and YOLO, have been filmed here.

According to Sun Hengqin, president of Oriental Movie Metropolis Industry Holding Group in Qingdao, since March 2015, over 200 film and television projects have been filmed here, contributing to a total box office revenue of over 30 billion yuan ($4.148 billion). To date, the core area of the Qingdao Film and Television Base in the Qingdao WCNA has attracted a total investment of over 300 billion yuan for film and television projects.

Chengyang district and Jiaozhou city in Qingdao also showcased the distinctive advantages of Qingdao's film and television industry based on their respective resources at the conference.
