Cultural legacies from Jining, Shandong province are on display at the ongoing sixth China Intangible Cultural Heritage Exposition in Jinan, capital of Shandong.

The items include traditional Shandong-style brocade, ancient rites and music performance and Nishan inkstone.

The Shandong-style folk brocade, widely known as Lu brocade, is a hand-spun, hand-woven, naturally-colored textile made of pure cotton, also called coarse cloth.

The rites and music performance showcase the traditional Chinese music and rites developed by Confucius, which advocate justice and the doctrine of the social good.

Nishan inkstone is named after Nishan Hill, where the legendary philosopher Confucius, whose ideas shaped Chinese culture, is said to have been born in a cave. Because of this connection, Nishan inkstones are often inscribed with Confucian philosophy.
