In September 2025, Dongying's installed renewable energy capacity reached 10.02 million kilowatts, making it the fifth city in East China's Shandong province to surpass the 10 million kilowatts.

Several initiatives set national records by completing planning, approval, construction, and grid connection within the same year. Large-scale solar-plus-storage and offshore photovoltaic projects further highlight the city's rapid expansion in green energy.
Dongying's offshore wind equipment park hosts dozens of major projects, forming a full chain of research and development, manufacturing, and testing. With the help of CATL, the city is establishing a green lithium battery cluster with an annual output exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14.04 billion).
