Print PrintAs spring arrives, Shandong is bustling with agricultural activities. Farmers are busy planting crops, while representatives and committee members at the "Two Sessions" are focusing on rural vitalization. They have proposed a series of constructive suggestions, such as promoting corn dense planting technology and supporting agricultural mechanization, reflecting their commitment to rural development.
Shandong, a major agricultural province, has achieved remarkable success as of late. In 2024, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in the province reached 1.28 trillion yuan ($176.65 billion), ranking first in China. It has also made progress in grain production, high-standard farmland construction, and agricultural exports.
Behind these achievements lies Shandong's dedication to agricultural innovation. From satellite remote sensing to unmanned tractors and smart aquaculture, Shandong is using technology to transform traditional farming. This aligns with the central government's call to develop new agricultural productivity.
Moreover, Shandong is reshaping rural economies by advancing full industry value chain upgrades. For example, a single yellow peach from Mengyin county can be sold as fresh fruit, dried fruit, essential oil, or mushroom sticks. Similarly, pomegranates in Shandong's Zaozhuang have created a billion-yuan industry, and peonies in Heze have become a global business.
