Shandong promotes tourism in Singapore

Shandong province, renowned as the birthplace of Confucius, hosted a promotional event in Singapore on Oct 8 to boost tourism. The event, titled "Hometown of Confucius, Friendly Shandong", brought together over 50 representatives from both Singapore and Shandong to explore opportunities for tourism cooperation.

During the event, Shandong offered a diverse range of tourism services, including themed tours focused on flower viewing, beach vacations, cultural exploration, folk experiences, and culinary discoveries. Additionally, the province highlighted new tourism initiatives and resources such as cultural performances, digital entertainment IPs, and other innovative tourism resources.

Wang Lei, head of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, emphasized the importance of inbound tourism for China's economic development, highlighted the strong historical ties between Shandong and Southeast Asia, and noted the recent increase in direct flights between the two regions.

Shandong's abundant cultural and tourism resources, along with ongoing infrastructure improvements and easier payment methods, have laid a solid foundation for revitalizing the inbound tourism market.

With its rich cultural heritage and abundant tourism resources, Shandong is well-positioned to attract more visitors from Southeast Asia.

Xiao Jianghua, director of the China Cultural Centre in Singapore and China National Tourist Office in Singapore, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration between Shandong and Singapore in the tourism sector. He emphasized the strong potential of their partnership given their shared cultural and historical connections. The China National Tourist Office in Singapore reaffirmed its commitment to supporting tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two regions.
