Swaran Singh Jaswal, professor of International Relations at Jawaharlal Nehru University, emphasized Weifang's unique significance during the Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024 in Weifang, Shandong province on Sept 20.

"Weifang is a very famous peace city," Jaswal said. He highlighted China's increasing engagement in managing global peace through diplomatic resolutions and participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations, while expressing confidence that Weifang will become more visible and effective in contributing to world peace in the coming years.

The Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024 took place in Jinan and Weifang, Shandong province, from Sept 19-21. With the theme of "Upholding a Shared Future to Build a World of Peaceful Coexistence", the event welcomed guests from more than 80 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the Americas, along with over 100 political organizations, peace groups, and security think tanks, to share their insights on promoting world peace.
