The China-South Korea Confucianism Dialogue, a precursor to the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, was held in South Korea on April 16. The event, divided into keynote speeches and interactive dialogues, brought together renowned experts from China and South Korea to explore the enduring relevance of Confucianism in the modern world.
Participants from both countries acknowledged the profound cultural ties shared by China and South Korea, both deeply rooted in the East Asian Confucian tradition.
With a history spanning over 2,500 years, Confucianism transcends mere academic study. The spiritual values, political thought, personal cultivation, educational principles, societal harmony, and ideals for an equitable society embedded within Confucianism hold immense contemporary value, offering wisdom to help navigate the complex challenges of the 21st century.
During the event, a cooperative framework agreement was signed on expanding collaboration in areas such as Confucian cultural exchange and regular mutual visits.
The 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations will convene in Qufu, East China's Shandong province, from July 10 to 11. The Chinese side extended a warm invitation to South Korean guests to join the gathering, fostering a shared understanding of Confucianism and promoting cross-civilizational dialogue.
