Shandong Port Group (SPG) successfully reached its production goals for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, achieving remarkable outcomes and numerous highlights.
As of Oct 6, SPG saw an increased cargo throughput of 4.4 percent and a 12.1 percent rise in container handling work when compared to the same period last year.
Ports serve as crucial infrastructure and hub facilities that are pivotal to economic development and act as economic prosperity barometers. During the recent National Day holiday, SPG worked hard, demonstrating its pivotal role as an important node within local industrial and supply chains.
In Qingdao Port's Qianwan port zone, the container handling volume saw a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent during the National Day holiday. During the One Friendship vessel's voyage along its Mediterranean route, its berth productivity rate reached 210.74 MPH, setting a new record in efficiency.
At Qianwan terminal, an average of three large vessels, each with a capacity of 8000 TEUs or more, were handled on a daily basis. While handling the MSC LENI, Qianwan terminal achieved a loading and unloading volume of 21,977 TEUs, achieving a record-breaking single-ship cargo handling record.
When handling the EVER AIM, the large class of container vessel with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs, Qianwan terminal achieved a vessel productivity rate of 246 MPH, setting a new record for Evergreen Shipping's European shipping route.
Additionally, in handling the MAERSK EUREKA, Qianwan terminal achieved a new vessel productivity record for Maersk's Central and South American shipping routes, reaching 220 MPH.
Qianwan terminal showcased remarkable production efficiency during the holiday. It completed an impressive 43 vessel berthing and departures in a single day, establishing another new record.
While handling the COSCO DURBAN for the Southeast Asia shipping route, Qianwan terminal achieved an outstanding single-crane productivity rate of 64.71 MPH.
During the holiday, Rizhao Port achieved a throughput growth of 2.6 percent year-on-year, with a container growth reaching 7.5 percent. The cumulative berthing and departing of ships here increased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period last year, with a significant 9.6 percent increase in the berthing operation of large ships.
Rizhao Port prioritized the smooth berthing, departing, and operation organization of branch line barges that belong to shipping groups during this period. This focus resulted in a significant 34 percent improvement in vessel productivity compared to the annual average.
Yantai Port Ro-Ro Logistics Company recorded a total of 18 berthing and departing operations for domestic and foreign trade vessels during this same period. These operations collectively handled a cargo volume of over 20,000 units, reflecting a significant increase of 10 percent year-on-year.
Yantai Port Ro-Ro Passenger Company saw a surge in operational activity, with 143,000 passenger visits and 29,000 ro-ro vehicles, reflecting a substantial year-on-year increase of 278.3 percent and 63.8 percent, respectively.
During the holiday, Bohai Bay Port accomplished a total of 190 berthing and departing operations, representing a substantial year-on-year increase of 98 percent. It handled 1.16 million tons of cargo and processed 16,000 TEUs, showing a notable year-on-year growth of 78 percent.
To ensure the smooth operation of the rail-sea intermodal transportation channel, Logistics Group's rail-sea intermodal transportation center handled 8,965 train cars during the holiday.
Throughout the Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday, Qingdao Cruise Home Port, managed by SPG's Cruise Culture and Tourism Group, oversaw 1,228 passengers, including 719 cruise passengers and 509 ferry passengers.
SPG's Shipping Group demonstrated synchronized efforts across all of its business lines, resulting in impressive growth. Its container volume increased by 70.4 percent year-on-year, bulk cargo volume increased by 159.9 percent year-on-year, and crude oil transit volume increased by 75 percent year-on-year.
