The coastal city of Weihai, Shandong province held a cultural and tourism promotional event on June 8 in Khabarovsk, Russia to further cultural exchanges and attract more tourists from the country.

The event was attended by more than 80 guests comprising government officials from both sides, media professionals, and key representatives from local travel agencies.

Weihai is a prefecture-level city and a major seaport in Shandong province. It borders Yantai to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east, and is the closest Chinese city to South Korea.

Due to its temperate climate, Weihai is a popular tourist tourism destination in China known for its coastal views, hot springs and local cuisine.

During the promotional event, a Shandong-based tourism agency signed cooperation agreements with Russian companies aimed at boosting tourist numbers.
