In Jinan, a poetic, cultural, and romantic city, modernity and tradition coexist harmoniously. Peter Klinger, a gastronomic consultant from Austria, enjoyed a day off by taking a leisurely stroll across the city.

Klinger explored the Yingxiongshan Cultural Market on his trip, trying his hand at gourd painting and seal carving while observing insects like grasshoppers singing and crickets engaging in combat.

Then he went to Jinan's ancient city center near Laoshangbu, which was the city's first commercial district, and saw how past and present China has collided there.
