Jinan plans to renovate 68 old residential areas, which include 525 neighborhoods and cover 7.55 million square meters, to improve about 99,000 households' living conditions in 2023, according to Jinan's housing and urban-rural development bureau.

The renovation project will include not only improving the neighborhoods, but also completing the construction of water, electricity, road, gas and heating facilities.

During the old residentialarea renovations, Jinan will make full use of the inactive resources, such as unauthorized and demolished vacant land, to build supporting facilities such as squares, parks, and fitness centers, according to the housing and urban-rural development bureau.

In addition, Jinan plans to orderly carry out the installation of elevators in old neighborhoods this year and manage and supervise the property management of neighborhoods in a complete and accurate manner this year. The city intends to introduce specialized property services to old neighborhoods and aims to increase the specialized property services coverage to 60 percent in old neighborhoods by the end of 2023.
