East China's Shandong province is going all out to promote the construction of major projects with high quality and efficiency as part of its efforts to facilitate regional high-quality development.

A key report of the recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pointed out that high-quality development is the primary task for comprehensively building a modern socialist country.

According to the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, in the first three quarters of this year, 534 out of 680 major provincial projects have started construction, accounting for 99.3 percent of the annual plan. They received a total investment of 411.29 billion yuan ($58.49 billion), 3.1 percentage points higher than the annual investment plan, and achieved the annual target ahead of schedule.

The central government has entrusted Shandong with the significant mission of creating a green, low-carbon, and high-quality development pilot zone.

Shandong plans to implement a large number of major industrial projects in renewable energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, the circular economy and clean production by sticking to its goal of green and low-carbon development.

The province plans to continue implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, highlighting the major strategies of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, and promoting green, low-carbon and high-quality development by replacing old growth drivers with new ones, as well as providing strong investment support for economic and social development, according to local officials.
