An online workshop was held by Shandong province and Tanzania on Tuesday to exchange prevention and treatment information related to COVID-19.

Six Chinese medical experts working on the frontlines of the pandemic shared their experiences in preventing and treating patients with Tanzanian medical staff and officials from health authorities and hospitals. They also exchanged information on the current situation and features of the pandemic.

The Chinese experts came from major Shandong hospitals, including Shandong Provincial Hospital, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Shandong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shandong Provincial Chest Hospital and Shandong Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

"Facing the coronavirus, the world's common enemy, we'd like to strengthen medical communication and cooperation with Tanzania to stop the pandemic," said Li Yongsen, deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong.

Shandong and Tanzania have already cooperated substantially in the fields of healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructure construction. Shandong has sent 25 medical teams to Tanzania since 1968 to help promote the health of local people, the provincial foreign affairs office said.
