Jiyang district of Jinan, East China's Shandong province held a signing ceremony for eight high-end projects with an investment of 3.8 billion yuan ($550.7 million) on Jan 15.

These signing projects feature six high-tech sectors covering intelligent manufacturing, biological medicine, health care, advanced materials, science-technology service and modern logistics.

The ceremony attracted numerous projects that were previously lacking in Jiyang district, part of efforts to help the area accelerate the shift of old growth drivers to new ones and further boost the local economy.

The project for a talent exchange center supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology aims to build a think tank for advanced manufacturing talents and train elites for the shift of old growth drivers.

The Jiyang innovation valley project backed by Liandong Group is to invest one billion yuan to build a cluster area for high-end industries. The modern logistics sector is also the focus for Jiyang's development plan. A cold chain intelligent logistics park will be built in Jiyang's development area to benefit the fresh food products industry.

"Jiyang will ramp up efforts to create a favorable environment, considerable service and preferential policies to support these projects," said Lu Canhua, the party secretary of Jiyang district.
