Sinohydro Corporation Limited and a joint venture, invested by POWERCHINA Airport Construction Company Limited and Macao Rockone Group, on June 6 received formal approval from the Airport Authority Hong Kong for the production and supply of asphalt mixture in the building of the 3913 Project, an integral part of the No. 3 runway system in the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Both Sinohydro Corporation Limited and POWERCHINA Airport Construction Company Limited are subsidiaries of POWERCHINA.
It is another project won by POWERCHINA in the building of the No. 3 runway system in the HKIA. According to the deal between them, POWERCHINA will provide over 200,000 cubic meters of bituminous concrete to the HKIA and its contractors in the construction of the No. 3 runway system until its completion in 2024.
With an area of 45,000 square meters, the production site of the 3913 Project of the No.3 runway system in the HKIA consists of two 28-meter-high asphalt mixing machines, a control room, a laboratory, and electricity supply room, and other supporting facilities.
The project is equipped with six cold storage bins of 20 cubic meters and six 50-ton asphalt storage tanks and is capable of storing 500 tons of asphalt products and manufacturing all kinds of asphalt mixtures. It has become the largest and most advanced asphalt mixture manufacturing complex in terms of investment, production, and environmental standard.
