Construction workers of POWERCHINA on May 29 finished the rebuilding of the DK4+450 truss bridge, marking the completion of the longest girder erection channel on the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR).
The reconstruction of the DK4+450 truss bridge will facilitate the implementation of traffic diversion of the DK5 bridge in a closed environment, solve the difficulties in the building of the No. 2 super bridge in a counter-clockwise direction, lay a solid foundation for track-laying, and help realize the goal of opening the Jakarta-Bandung HSR to the public on June 30.
The No. 2 super bridge, which is about 36 kilometers long, consists of 24 sets of continuous beams. It is one of the most challenging projects with complex terrain and other restrictive factors in the building of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR because it is adjacent to Jakarta-Bandung Expressway.
The rebuilding of the DK4+450 truss bridge has been conducted concurrently with the subgrade construction of the No. 2 super bridge amid the COVID-19 epidemic and negative public opinion. To safeguard the steady and smooth progress of girder erection and other tasks, builders from POWERCHINA carried out sufficient communication with the design institutes, the Indonesian authorities, residential communities, and other stakeholders.
The completion ceremony received coverage from both Chinese and Indonesian media.
