Accompanied by Li Xunfeng, representative of POWERCHINA in Angola, Carolina Cerqueira, the minister of State for Social Affairs of Angola, and Joao Baptista Borges, head of the Ministry of Energy and Water of Angola, attended the completion ceremony of the first and second bid sections of the second phase of the water supply project in Huambo province on Nov 7.
Cerqueira and Borges expressed their sincere thanks to POWERCHINA, noting that the completion of the project is a gift to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Angola that will benefit more than 500,000 people in Huambo province by addressing the current water shortages that local residents face.
The water supply project is a key livelihood project in Huambo province. The main construction tasks include the establishment of a water treatment plant with a processing capacity of 46,000 cubic meters per day, four water distribution centers, more than 300 kilometers of supporting pipe network, as well as the home connection of 21,000 households.
