The completion ceremony of the Dodoma-Babati highway undertaken by POWERCHINA's subsidiary was held in Tanzania on April 27. Tanzanian President John Magufuli and government officials from the Tanzania national engineering department and highway bureau attended the ceremony.
Magufuli affirmed the quality of the project and expressed appreciation for the company's performance capabilities. He said that the Dodoma-Babati highway is a vital traffic line connecting Dodoma and Arusha. It will help enhance economic and cultural exchanges between the two cities.
The first section of the Dodoma-Babati highway is located four kilometers north of the capital city of Dodoma, Tanzania. It has a total length of 43.65 kilometers and passes through the water source of Dodoma. The construction schedule of the project had been severely affected by the lack of government funds. However, the project department overcame difficulties such as house demolition, power demolition and lack of stock yards. The project was completed and accepted on Jan 11, 2017.
The opening of this section advances public transportation, helps accelerate city development and provides a guarantee for the relocation of Tanzania's capital.
