POWERCHINA and India's Adani Group signed an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for a Guda coal-fired power station in India as well as a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation on April 24.

Zhang Yujing, president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, Yan Zhiyong, chairman of POWERCHINA, and Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, attended the contract signing ceremony.

Yan said that as the largest port developer and operator in India, Adani Group has rich performance experience and solid strength in the areas of energy, logistics and agriculture.

He hoped that POWERCHINA and Adani Group will take advantage of the opportunity to further strengthen communication and exchange and carry out all-round cooperation in more fields at a deeper level, which would contribute to the construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor and the realization of Adani Group's grand vision of "developing assets with national economic significance".

Gautam Adani said that Adani Group has had long-term and pleasant cooperation with Chinese enterprises. Generating units made in China have performed well, which demonstrates China's technological leadership in power generation. He is willing to further strengthen cooperation and achieve win-win outcomes.

The Guda 2×800MW coal-fired power station will supply power to Bangladesh through special transmission lines. It is one of the major projects of energy cooperation between India and Bangladesh, and was identified as such by the Indian Prime Minister during his visit to Bangladesh in 2016.

It is of great significance for promoting construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor and strengthening regional power connectivity.

Adani Group is India's outstanding multinational group, as well as an important player in global infrastructure. Its businesses include global trade, development and operation of ports, inland containers, special economic zones, oil refining, transportation and logistics, urban gas transmission, renewable and non-renewable energy generation, power transmission, power trading, solar manufacturing and real estate.

POWERCHINA has established a solid mutual trust with Adani Group and will fully expand the relationship in global power, infrastructure and other fields.
