On May 19, Sun Hongshui, general-manager of POWERCHINA Limited and chairman of the board of POWERCHINA International, met at company headquarters with a team from GE, led by Duan Xiaoying, global senior vice-president, president and CEO of the greater China region of GE.
Sun extended his welcome to Duan's team upon their visit. Apart from introducing POWERCHINA's overall international business, he also discussed the restructuring of the international business within his company and future strategic outlines. Sun pointed out that POWERCHINA had maintained sound cooperation with GE. The two sides should further consolidate mutual trust, as well as learn from each other, seek common development and grasp the strategic opportunity of “The Belt and Road” Initiatives, so as to bring their mutual strategic cooperation to a higher level.
Duan congratulated the founding of POWERCHINA International and approved of the progress made by POWERCHINA on the international front. In the meantime, she detailed GE's recent merger with Alstom, adjustments in business areas, localization promotion and efforts to grow into a global digital group. “Both GE and POWERCHINA focus on infrastructure construction and are highly compatible in the market as important global cooperation partners. Hopefully the two companies can promote related programs in market development, talent training and digital construction to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation in the Asia-Pacific regions and beyond,” said Duan.
Both sides agreed that on the basis of increasing communication and cooperation, they should improve resource sharing and help each other, coordinate marketing, innovate cooperation models, and strengthen multi-level and all-around cooperation to improve their strategic cooperation to higher levels.
GE delegates responsible for Chinese strategy, Ding Zhengguo (assistant general-manager of POWERCHINA Limited) and managers of international businesses also participated in the meeting.
