Senior legislators pledge allegiance to Constitution

Senior legislators who were granted letters of appointment took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution at a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, after the conclusion of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee on June 28. Wang Dongming, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the ceremony.

The appointees included Shen Chunyao, chairman of the sixth-term Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the NPC Standing Committee; Wong Yuk-shan, vice-chairman of the sixth-term Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the NPC Standing Committee; Zhang Yong, vice-chairman of the sixth-term Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the NPC Standing Committee; members of the sixth-term Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the NPC Standing Committee and new members of the fifth-term Committee for the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the NPC Standing Committee; Guo Zhenhua, chairman of the Deputies Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee; vice-chairpersons of the Deputies Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee; and Song Rui, deputy secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee.
