Padma Choling, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress(NPC), led a team to Northeast China's Heilongjiang province from July 1 to 5 to learn about the implementation of whole-process people's democracy in work related to overseas Chinese affairs.

The team made visits to Jiamusi, Yichun as well as Jiansanjiang farm and exchanged ideas with relatives of overseas Chinese and those engaged in overseas Chinese affairs at the grassroots level.

At a symposium with the provincial authorities, Padma Choling stressed the importance of promoting whole-process people's democracy with specific measures and embodying this concept at work of all levels.

He called for efforts to improve the people's congress system, adhere to the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of Communist Party of China, and develop the broadest possible patriotic united front.

The community of overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese and their relatives should be encouraged to engage in the practice of whole-process people's democracy and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, he added.
