NPC Team inspects enforcement of science popularization law in Henan

A team led by Ji Bingxuan, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, inspected the enforcement of the Law on Popularization of Science and Technology in Central China's Henan province from June 24 to 28.

The team held a symposium with provincial authorities and visited the cities of Zhengzhou, Hebi and Xinxiang for field studies, they also heard opinions from lawmakers and scholars.

Ji said the full and effective enforcement of the law is vital to enhance the people's science literacy and promote economic and social development.

He acknowledged the province's achievements in prioritizing the strategy of invigorating the province through innovation, scientific and technological development and talents cultivation, introducing a series of regulations to carry forward the spirit of science, and integrating science popularization with pursuit for innovation-driven growth.

He also called for efforts to advance the enforcement of the law, improve the work mechanism for popularization endeavors to be more organized and systematical, and create a good atmosphere featuring respect for knowledge, talents and creation.
