A team led by Ji Bingxuan, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), visited Guilin city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on June 7 and 8 to learn about how the city aligns its efforts of consolidating poverty-alleviation achievements with rural vitalization endeavors.

The team inspected Maozhushan village in Quanzhou county, Daxu ancient town and Dongli ancient village in Lingchuan county, and Qianjing village in Yanshan district.

In recognizing the city's progress in the initiative, Ji stressed that rural vitalization is a long-term, systematic and complex project that needs to be promoted with a sober mind, consistent policies and measures and close coordination.

It’s important to intensify dynamic monitoring to prevent a mass return to poverty, boost the agricultural industry to increase people's incomes, and support grassroots leaders to spearhead economic prosperity, according to Ji.

A successful transition from poverty alleviation to rural vitalization requires efforts on many fronts, such as leadership, working mechanisms, policies, industrial projects and talents, he added.
