Ningxia Hui autonomous region will hold a group wedding in Pigeon Mountain Wine Town, Qingtongxia city, on Aug 19, the seventh day of the seventh month of the Chinese calendar, known as Qixi Festival or China's Valentine's Day.
This group wedding aims to abandon the old customs of grand and extravagant weddings. The newlyweds participating in the event do not have to worry about wedding preparations, as the organizer will provide intimate services throughout the entire process.
The group wedding will invite 52 newlywed couples, with the last day to apply being Aug 8.
These new couples will enjoy a package of benefits, including accommodation from Aug 18 to 19, traditional Chinese wedding dresses for both men and women, along with exquisite makeup, full-service photography, a customized wedding book for the newlyweds, a wedding anniversary gift package worth 2,000 yuan ($294), tickets to tourist attractions in Qingtongxia, an immersive experience of ancient style gatherings, and a starry night barbecue buffet.
The application criteria are as follows: newlyweds who have obtained a marriage certificate from the local civil affairs bureau in the past three years, have not held a wedding ceremony, and who actively advocate changing traditional customs and resisting high bride prices.
