On April 27, the inaugural desert hiking event of Zhongwei city, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, opened, attracting the participation of nearly 10,000 people.
This 5.5-kilometer hiking route started in the northern part of Shapotou, passing through the Desert Star Hotel and ending at the destination of the Desert Flower.

"Compared to other hiking experiences, the biggest difference in desert hiking is perhaps its unique hiking environment. I believe one of the benefits of desert hiking is the opportunity to cultivate one's willpower and endurance, making individuals more resilient. Walking in the desert, I not only witnessed the spectacular beauty of nature but also gained a deeper understanding of life. This experience provided an excellent opportunity to challenge myself," said Ma Yang, a student from Ningxia University.

Since the beginning of this year, Ningxia's Zhongwei has been fully exploring its desert tourism resources and conducting various tourism events. This hiking event aims to ignite summer tourism enthusiasm among young people, attracting more visitors to come to Ningxia for an immersive experience of local customs.
Ningxia will launch 13 more tourism events starting from June 2024.
