"Grass grids have the function of fixing sand. Without them, strong winds may tear down the support brackets for photovoltaic panels, which makes sand control particularly important for photovoltaic power stations," said Wu Kun, a technician at Ningxia Qingyang New Energy Co Ltd.

In the Tengger Desert in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, there are another 26 such stations. With the gradual operations of stations under the 3-million kilowatt photovoltaic project in the Tengger Desert new energy base, another 90,000 mu what is mu? of desert will be transformed into an oasis.

Currently, the proportion of new energy installed capacity in Zhongwei has reached 86.27 percent, ranking first among all cities in Ningxia.

Starting in 2022, local power operators in Ningxia have begun a strategic cooperation agreement with the Zhongwei municipal government, to deepen cooperation in strengthening the construction of a main power grid and improving the level of new energy development and utilization.

"We have implemented one-to-one tracking services, offered green channels, and shortened processing times for users, providing thorough consultation for new energy stations before grid connection," said an employee from State Grid Zhongwei Power Supply Co.

After the stations are connected to the grid, the power supplier has continued to provide technical support, training, and maintenance services to ensure that problems can be promptly resolved, helping the station to generate power and create benefits at an early stage, it said.
