Ningxia promotes goji products innovation

On June 22, at the "Modern Goji Industry and Health Summit" of the 6th Goji Industry Expo, experts and scholars conducted discussions on the health benefits, scientific research progress, and industrial promotion of goji berries.

Jiang Yuanxun, president of Fujian Tea Association, highlighted the application and brand promotion of goji leaves in tea products.

In Zhongning county, Ningxia, the unique local natural conditions have cultivated Zhongning goji berries with 28 kinds of amino acids, over 30 kinds of trace elements, and essential nutrients required by the human body.

Goji black tea is an innovative product made from the buds or young leaves of goji trees.

According to the Animal Science Research Institute of the Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, goji leaves have good antioxidant properties, lower blood sugar, and are good for the liver and kidney. Moreover, goji leaves have lower calories, higher crude protein and fiber content than goji berries. The iron content in goji leaves is eight times that in goji berries. These nutritional advantages can help improve the immune system.

Technological innovation has brought new forms and opportunities to Ningxia's goji industry. Ningxia has strengthened the technological research and development in the goji industry, and has established a number of platforms such as the National Goji Berry Engineering Technology Research Center, in a bid to achieve more significant accomplishments made in the collection of goji germplasm resources, breeding of excellent varieties, pest and disease prevention and control.
