Ningxia has been the frontier of northern China since ancient times, and has been the location most sought after by ancient Chinese military strategists. It is known as the "Shanxi central barrier". The Great Wall of the Warring States Period (475-221 BC), Qin (221-206 BC), Han (206 BC-AD 220), Sui (581-618), Song (960-1279), and Ming (1368-1644) dynasties is still in existence in Ningxia, and the 1,500 kilometers of visible walls are known as the Great Wall Museum of China.

Shizuishan is also the main distribution area of the Great Wall in Ningxia. At present, the ancient Great Wall sites in Shizuishan were all built during the Ming Dynasty, and are also called the "side wall".

Photographer Li Zhigang has climbed Helan Mountain dozens of times and spent about four years collecting video materials. Though individuals can rarely obtain video material of other parts of the Great Wall due to their unclear geographical location, we can still imagine how magnificent this historical site was. Let's enjoy the beautiful scenery of the ancient Great Wall in Shizuishan, Ningxia.
