Zhejiang group's new warehouse boosts China-Europe logistics
Zhejiang Seaport Group – based in Ningbo city in East China's Zhejiang province – is further expanding its global logistics infrastructure.
That's with the recent launch of a new overseas warehouse in Wilhelmshaven in Germany, a key development aimed at strengthening the group's port services. The group operates and manages all the ports in the province.
Wang Lingjun, export manager at Zhejiang Portex Logistics Technology Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Seaport Group, recently returned from Germany with important updates.
"After 26 days, the first 'China-Europe Express' vessel successfully arrived in Germany. I had the opportunity to observe the entire process of unloading and warehousing the first batch of lithium batteries at Wilhelmshaven," Wang said.
"In less than three months of trial operation, we have already secured dozens of potential clients. Our innovative 'front warehouse and overseas warehouse' model is perfectly aligned with their needs," Wang added.
As part of its strategy to capitalize on the expanding NEV export sector, Ningbo Zhoushan Port – in collaboration with Wilhelmshaven – has introduced a hazardous goods (Class 9) warehouse at Wilhelmshaven, which has been in trial operation since late last year.
Additionally, Zhejiang Seaport has leased more than 30,000 square meters of logistics space in the Wilhelmshaven logistics park, further streamlining its operations.
Leveraging the "China-Europe Express" shipping route and the new overseas warehouse in Germany, goods from Ningbo Zhoushan Port can now be transshipped through Wilhelmshaven to Northern Europe and the Baltic region.
They can also be transported by land to key markets in Western and Central Europe – including France, Belgium, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Poland – all within a 30-day transit time.
The project has been recognized as a significant development by the logistics center manager at Wilhelmshaven.
"Zhejiang Seaport's investment here sends a strong signal to the region," he said, "This overseas warehouse not only generates new employment opportunities, but also strengthens Germany's position as a key hub for international trade."
The Wilhelmshaven warehouse marks Zhejiang Seaport's second overseas project. That follows the establishment of a warehouse in Dubai, located near Jebel Ali Port, the largest transshipment hub in the Middle East.
