Global visitors get immersed in Ningbo's maritime and cultural riches

The 2024 Belt and Road Jin Hub International Communication event made a stop in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, showcasing the city's unique blend of modern maritime achievements and rich cultural heritage.
On Dec 23, media representatives and social media influencers from China and nine other countries visited Ningbo as part of the event, where they experienced the city's dynamic energy and deep cultural traditions.
The Ningbo Zhoushan Port, one of the world's busiest ports, left a strong impression on the visitors. Tiakofako Camille from Cameroon was excited about the future of the port, highlighting advancements in areas such as robotics and autonomous driving, which have the potential to shape its development.
Syed Agha Hassnain Mohsan from Pakistan also praised Ningbo's role in global trade, calling it an "amazing" city with an "incredible" maritime industry.
Mercedes Fernandez from Mexico was surprised to spot her country's Lazaro Cardenas Port on the port's extensive map, reflecting Ningbo's role as global maritime hub.
The group also visited the Qian'an Guild Hall, a museum dedicated to Mazu culture, where they learned about Ningbo's historical significance as the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road.
Ningbo's culture also captivated the visitors. During a traditional Chinese painting session, participants, including Ezekiel Jacob Mwambopo from Tanzania, were eager to try their hands at making art. Mwambopo was named the "best student" at the event, and expressed an eagerness to continue practicing back home.
At the close of the event, Mohsan said that the visit had provided an opportunity to witness various types of traditional cultural heritage, which helped them feel more connected to Chinese history.
