Ningbo Zhoushan Port experienced a 5.5 percent year-on-year growth in cargo throughput, reaching 593 million metric tons in the first five months of this year, according to official statistics.

During the same period, the port handled approximately 15.8 million TEUs, marking a 9.3 percent expansion compared to the corresponding period last year.

In May alone, the port witnessed an upswing in cargo and container throughput volumes, reaching 121 million tons and 3.46 million TEUs, respectively. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 3.7 percent and 9.7 percent.

Throughout this year, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has actively bolstered its global shipping network. As of today, the port has established over 300 shipping routes, connecting it to more than 600 ports in over 200 countries and regions. With around 280 vessels arriving and departing daily, the port has solidified its position as a key player in supporting the country's "dual circulation" strategy.

Additionally, the port currently operates 25 sea-rail intermodal services, expanding its reach to 65 prefecture-level cities in 16 provinces nationwide. This initiative further reinforces its pivotal role in the region.
