Originating from the ancient Yue kiln in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, the Yue Celadon Ou Music fuses ceramic instruments with performance art.

Ou refers to vessels such as cups and bowls. The material was first made in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) at kilns such as the Shanglin Lake Yue kiln in Ningbo's Cixi, which was part of Yue prefecture in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Ceramics made at the Yue kiln are known as Yue celadon.

Yue Celadon Ou Music reached its zenith in the Tang and Song (960-1279) dynasties, and began to decline in the late Song Dynasty.

In recent years, the local art troupe has blended the traditional art with other types of performances and modern technologies such as AR.
