A flock of white egrets recently made an appearance at Tianming Lake in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. These graceful birds can be seen perched or flying, creating a picturesque scene.
Tianming Lake, situated in the middle and lower stretches of the Yangong River, plays a vital role in local flood control and drainage projects, boasting a significant storage capacity of 1.1 million cubic meters. In recent years, the water quality of the lake has greatly improved, making it an ideal haven for water fowls like white egrets.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the local government, the lake's water area has expanded by approximately 600,000 square meters. This expansion allows the lake to withstand a one-in-fifty-years flood event. In addition, measures such as eliminating direct sewage discharge have continuously enhanced the lake's ability to purify itself.
