Ningbo's above-designated-size enterprises surpass 10,000

The number of industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.08 million) or more - in Ningbo totaled 10,003 as of the end of March, the highest in East China's Zhejiang province, according to the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

The enterprises are primarily involved in sectors including electrical machinery, general equipment, metals, automobiles as well as rubber and plastic products.

In terms of geographical distribution, Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, topped the city with 2,073 above-designated-size industrial enterprises, followed by the county-level of Yuyao and Yinzhou district.

In 2021, the output value of industrial enterprises above a designated size in Ningbo amounted to 2.21 trillion yuan, up 21.8 percent year-on-year, official data showed.

This was the first time the city's industrial output value exceeded 2 trillion yuan. The city's industrial added value surpassed 600 billion yuan, ranking seventh nationwide.

According to a government report delivered by Acting Mayor Tang Feifan, Ningbo aims to lift the number of above-designated-size enterprises to more than 15,000 by 2026. It has also set the target of increasing the number of market entities and high-tech enterprises in the city to over 1.6 million and 10,000 respectively.
