Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled its 10 tasks to improve people's livelihoods for this year.
The tasks compiled by the local government were passed at the first session of the 16th Ningbo Municipal People's Congress on April 12.
One of the tasks is aimed at enhancing Ningbo's education services. The city has set the goal of constructing or expanding 60 primary and middle schools and kindergartens this year.
The city will also ramp up care for the elderly. Specifically, it plans to provide those aged above 65 with free flu vaccines, construct an additional 10 5A-level old-age nursing homes and build 150 standardized canteens for elderly within the year.
Meanwhile, the local government will ramp up efforts in improving the living environment. To achieve this, Ningbo aims to renovate 3 million square meters of old residential communities and construct 70,000 government-subsidized rental houses in 2022.
In addition, efforts will be made to improve the support for the needy in the city.
The city will provide free supplementary medical insurance for all low-income rural households in the city, a move to prevent them from falling back into poverty due to illness.
It has also set the goal of helping 1,000 people with disabilities upgrade their home facilities.
A campaign to stabilize employment will be launched in the city to create 200,000 jobs in urban areas.
In addition, the city will strengthen efforts in safeguarding food safety. One important approach will be to promote the application of Zheshilian, a food traceability system in Zhejiang, in 72 grocery markets across the city this year.
Care for infants will be improved as well. The city plans to build nursing institutions that can accommodate 7,500 infants aged below three.
Ningbo aims to set up a one-stop service system for patients with chronic diseases by constructing 45 integrated chronic disease clinics in community-level medical and health institutions.
The city will further improve the fitness of local residents by making fitness facilities more accessible. To do so, it will build 10 sports parks, 30 multifunctional sports fields and 85 government-funded gyms within the year.
